Exhibits
The Nelms House features solo exhibits in its 9 rooms by local or regional artists that are wall art or 3D in all media. The emphasis is on upcycle artwork but all art forms are accepted.
Special exhibit themes are occasionally planned with a call to artists to submit original artwork. The special exhibits are planned with local artists and the Manager. However, if you have an exhibit you want to pursue, Nelms House can be an exhibit venue so please contact us about the arrangements for the duration, rooms, and social media publicity.
Switch It Up
September 8-October 31 2022
Artists use their creative power to decorate light switch covers. Any art medium and family-friendly designs are featured. Nelms House has 12 single switch covers on permanent display which compliment the rooms' decor; other switch plates are available for public sale during the exhibit. Proceeds benefit Mercy Chefs
Eco Art
The Nelms House features a display of eco art by regional artists on wearable and functional items, including scarves as wall hangings. Learn how to use plants for designs on fabrics in workshops with eco printing and eco dying. See Eco Art listed under Workshops for details.
Hand built Ceramics
The Nelms House features hand built ceramics or polymer clays by local potters with designs that align with nature such as plant and animal motifs or vintage fabrics that were popular during the Victorian era. Currently featured is the potter A. Menoche.
Walk This Way
Artists were challenged with designing upcycled shoes for themed exhibit to benefit healing arts therapy program at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. Designed shoes are throughout the Nelms House and a portion of sales benefits a non profit from the Designer Showcase..
